Panel Discussion in Singapore, July 04, 2012

On July 4, 2012, a panel discussion of the cluster „Eco-Cities“ was organized in the context of the World City Summit 2012. The event entitled “Sustainable Urban Management - Sharing European and Asian Experiences” took place in the Marina Bay Sands Expo & Convention Centre in Singapore. More than 45 participants attended the discussion. Speakers were Flemming Borreskov, President of the International Federation for Housing and Planning, Professor Jacqueline Cramer, Director of the Utrecht Sustainability Institute and former Dutch Minister of Housing, Spatial Planning and the Environment, Julian Goh, Associate Director of the Centre for Liveable Cities and Mark Dwyer, Director of Cities Lab Fundacíon Metrópoli. The speeches brought in various experiences from Europe and Asia. After the presentations a lively discussion ensued and several critical issues were raised, such as the role of urban governance and how to involve the population more in urban planning.
